Keukenhof

Known as the Garden of Europe, Keukenhof is one of the world’s largest flower gardens. In the spring, the gardens bloom with an impressive rainbow of flowers (7 million flower bulbs over 79 acres), including our own iconic tulips. Located in the small town of Lisse in the south of Holland, Keukenhof is open annually from mid-March to mid-May.

The best time to see the tulips is typically mid-April, depending on the weather.

Delft

This historic canal-ringed city in the west of the Netherlands is known for manufacturing Delftware, the hand-painted blue-and-white pottery, that has become one of the country’s most recognized motifs. In Delft’s old town, you’ll find the medieval Oude Kerk (old church) and the burial site of Dutch Master painter Johannes Vermeer. You will see The Nieuwe Kerk (new church), built in the 15th century for the royal House of Orange, which overlooks Delft’s lively market square.

 Maastricht

The south most city in the Netherlands and the capital of the province of Limburg, Maastricht is known for its rich history. It has medieval architecture, a cobbled old town, and a vibrant culture. You can visit the Gothic-style church Sint Janskerk or the Romanesque Basilica of St. Servatius. From its Spanish and Roman ruins to its French and Belgian twists, any trip to the Netherlands should include a visit to Maastricht.

 Haarlem

Haarlem is the capital of the province of North Holland and another classic Dutch city with cobbled streets, historic buildings, grand churches, and museums. This city has a lively cultural scene and a great atmosphere. A great place for shopping! It’s shopping streets are lined with little boutiques and cozy restaurants and cafés for when you’re all shopped out. Best of all, it’s only a 15-minute train ride from Amsterdam.

 Volendam

This picturesque Dutch fishing village is located on the Markermeer Lake, northeast of Amsterdam. A visit to Volendam should include a stroll down the town’s main harbor strip, De Dijk. Here you can still find fishing boats and traditional wooden buildings and homes. If you’re a fan of seafood, you can sample the catch of the day and other fresh fish from outdoor vendors. If cheese is more to your taste, Volendam’s Cheese Factory is one of the town’s attractions.
