Discover Amsterdam In September

You as yourself: What’s on in Amsterdam in September? Well to be honest, there are amazing things happening ALL OVER the country in September! We can help you explore the best of summer with our bespoke, private tours. Maybe you like wine? Maybe you want to see how cheese is made? Or are festivals more your thing? Then read on, and get inspired for your trip to The Netherlands.

1: Amsterdam Wine Festival

The autumn edition focuses on the harvest of northern hemisphere wines. With workshops, masterclasses, bands and DJs. At Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam, expected 27-29 Sep 2019. What better way to finish off the day, by continuing to sample wine (and cheese) on a private canal cruise with one of our professional, local guides.

2: Princes Day!

Be part of the historic tradition in The Hague by taking a private tour with us. Prinsjesdag is more than a political and economic event, however. It has great ceremonial significance. Prior to the Speech from the Throne a royal procession moves from Noordeinde Palace to the Ridderzaal in The Hague. The King waves to the people from the Golden Coach. It is a happening that has thousands of people lining the route.

3: Monument Day

Over a weekend many public buildings in the Netherlands open their doors to visitors including dozens of sites in Amsterdam. Open Monumentendag runs 14-15 Sep 2019. The hardest part is to choose between the countless options, such as visiting the political heart of The Hague, medieval churches of Maastricht or canal houses in Amsterdam, to the fortifications around Utrecht, theatres of Leiden and city hall of Gouda.

4: Alkmaar Cheese Market

Without a doubt, the Alkmaar Cheese Market is the main attraction in the town. From April to September inclusive, you can find out how cheese is traded according to a tradition that is centuries old. Join us on a Friday (the day the market is on), for a private tour of Alkmaar and Gouda. You should never pass up an opportunity to see this colourful, folkloric spectacle taking place at the picturesque Waagplein.

5: Eclectic Summer Festival

Take a cycling tour to the North of Amsterdam with us, and enjoy the most ‘out there’ festival the city has to offer! Besides the main DJs you’ll also find sideshows and performance artists allowing you to take time out from the dancing and check out the bizarreness. The music at Valtifest is as eclectic as the dress code and anything goes on the day. Don’t be shy, let your imagination run riot and get into the Valtifest spirit!
